Scarborough Whitby and Ryedale Mind are here to support people to access and implement the right advice on benefits although we are not specialists, we will always do our best to help.

We know that the changes to benefits and the process of applying for benefits itself is a cause of significant distress to many people.

We receive a lot of conact about these issues, particularly around Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) and Personal Independence Payment (PIP) and the face to face assessments many people are required to undergo.

Scarborough Whitby and Ryedale Mind is also able to make referrals for people with mental health problems wanting benefit advice to the Good Finance Project run by Citizens Advice Scarborough and District.

People can receive advice on benefits, finance, debt and money management by a specialist CAB advisor who will also offer follow up support as well as attending any benefit assessments for ESA and PIP.

The mental health charity Rethink have produced a useful guide which can be download here.
