Fund-raisers and trustees wanted

31 July 2015

After fighting back from the brink of closure we have launched a major drive to recruit trustees and form a volunteer fund-raising team to secure our future for years to come.

Now we are asking people to consider becoming a volunteer member of our board of trustees or helping fund-raise for us by sparing a few hours each week.

Trustees take a central role in making sure SWR Mind- which has been established for more than 50 years - is properly run and managed and that we have enough money to do so.

We are particularly keen to hear from people with experience of finance and accounting, human resources and who have an understanding of mental health issues as well as a strong commitment to challenge the stigma surrounding it.

Trustees must be over the age of 18 and be able to spare four to six hours each month in return receiving out of pocket expenses for taking on the role which includes attending a monthly meeting, reading reports, attending several events and being at our annual general meeting once a year.

Although our short-term future is secure, we are still in need of people to support us by holding a fund-raiser whether it be a domino drive, bake sale, charity quiz, sponsored walk or for the more adventurous a sponsored skydive, trek or cycling challenge.

In addition, we are hoping to form a volunteer fund-raising committee who will help us meet some of our £250,000 annual running costs by organising money-spinners, collections or helping at charity events.

For more information about helping with fund-raising or to apply to become a trustee email or call Sophie Hall on (01723) 588008.
