World Mental Health Day Street Collection

10 October 2015

Scarborough Whitby and Ryedale Mind will be holding a street collection to raise funds on 10 October - World Mental Health Day.

It will take place between 10am and 3pm in Scarborough Town Centre where our staff and volunteers will also be on hand to speak to people.

Carl Maw from Scarborough Whitby and Ryedale Mind said: “It’s important that we tackle the fear and awkwardness that people feel around talking about mental health. Only then can we break down some of the stigma around having a mental illness.

“Fund-raising for us is one way we can help people who are living in our community by supporting them to live the lives they want to live regardless of their mental health difficulties.

“We would be so grateful to anyone interested in supporting us with raising money for us on World Mental Health Day or by attending one of the concerts taking place on the day.”

Anyone who would like to help by organising a fund-raising event or who'd like to help out with the street collection on 10 October is asked to call (01723) 588008.
