Christmas can be a stressful time for each and every one of us. The Mental Health Foundation have come up with a few good suggestions on how to manage your mental health through the festive period:
Scarborough, Whitby and Ryedale Mind’s office will be closed from 2pm on Thursday 24th December and will re-open on Tuesday 29th December. The answering machine is available to leave messages which will be picked up on Tuesday 29th at 9am.
Scarborough Survivors Christmas Opening Times: Thursday 24th December (coffee bar) 11am-2pm. Monday 28th December (coffee bar) 11am – 2pm.
If you feel suicidal or feel like harming yourself or other people:

· Go to your nearest Accident and Emergency department (A&E)

Call NHS 111 (NHS Direct) – open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. They can tell you about your local crisis support services or make an appointment at the urgent care centre (Scarborough). Web: www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk

North Yorkshire County Council and the NHS fund a mental health out-of-hours telephone helpline service that provides emotional support, signposting and referral into other services for individuals and for the carers of people experiencing mental distress. People who need advice, support or help can call the dedicated number, 0333 0000 309, to speak to a friendly, understanding and non-judgemental adviser. Monday to Thursday 5pm to 8.30am, Friday 4.30pm to 8am Saturday, Sunday and bank holidays 24 hours a day (including Christmas and New Year).
SANE line : SANE runs a national, out-of-hours mental health helpline offering specialist emotional support and information to anyone affected by mental illness, including family, friends and carers. We are open every day of the year from 6pm to 11pm. 0300 304 7000
