18 January 2016
It’s almost the most depressing day of the year – Blue Monday - and we are launching a fund-raising drive to help people fight depression.
The third Monday in January – Monday 18th- is suggested by experts as being the most depressing day of the year.
It has been awarded the gloomy title due to a combination of post-Christmas blues, cold dark nights and the arrival of unpaid credit card bills with more people feeling down in January than at any other time in the year.
In a bid to get people talking about mental health, mark the occasion and beat the blues, Scarborough Whitby and Ryedale Mind (SWR Mind) is inviting people to wear blue at their place of work or school and make a donation to the charity which supports local people with mental illness.
Staff from SWR Mind will be in Tesco Superstore in Scarborough on Monday 18 January where we will be holding a collection and selling wrist bands and cuddly elephants – the charity’s mascot.
If you would like to support us by holding a fund-raiser or for more information call Scarborough Whitby and Ryedale Mind on (01723) 588008 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
