Changing Minds - last few spots available
Scarborough, Whitby and Ryedale Mind are offering two free of charge courses to people experiencing mental ill health. People are welcome to attend either or both courses, a number of the workshops will be offered individually in February.
The five-week Mental Health Awareness course consists of five workshops, each 2 hours long and will cover a range of topics including mental health awareness and wellbeing, confidence building, anxiety management, recovery and resilience and managing worry and stress.
The second programme – Behaviour Change and Communication – consists of four workshops, each 2 hours long and will focus on anger management, communication skills, advocacy, managing conflict and building networks and relationships.
The workshops are funded by the North Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner, aimed at:
- Victims of crime or individuals at increased risk* of being victims of crime due to mental ill-health (*Please note that people with mental health problems are statistically more likely to be a victim of crime so anyone experiencing mental ill health will qualify under this stream.)
- People at risk of offending or repeat offending due to mental ill-health
January-February Mental Health Awareness Programme:
Thursdays, 10.00-12.00 : 10th January, 17th January, 24th January 31st January, 7th February
January Behaviour and Communications Programme:
Thursdays, 13.00-15.00 : 10th January, 17th January, 24th January 31st January
Both courses will be delivered at Falsgrave Community Resource Centre on Seamer Road (opposite B&Q). If cost of transport would prevent you from attending, please get in touch as we have a small budget to help people get here.
