Charity's appeal to recruit new volunteer trustees
22nd July 2016
Scarborough Whitby and Ryedale Mind is keen to recruit new volunteer trustees to help us continue our work in the local community.
We are asking people to consider becoming a member of our board of trustees in a bid to help us continue our crucial work supporting 1,000 people every year through our projects across the region.
The charity is particularly keen to hear from people with experience or knowledge of accountancy or finance, Human Resources or people who are active and connected to their local communities, particularly in the Whitby and Ryedale areas.
Trustees have a central role in making sure SWR Mind – an independent charity which has been established for more than 50 years – is properly run, managed and funded.
Trustees must be over the age of 18 and be able to spare four to six hours each month. In return, trustees receive out of pocket expenses for taking on the role which includes attending a monthly meeting and the AGM, reviewing business reports, attending various events and safeguarding the future of the charity.
Christine Gilkes, chair of SWR Mind’s board of trustees said: “We currently have four trustees who do an amazing job but we are greatly in need of more.”
“As a small local charity out trustees are vital and for just a few hours of their time each month they can make a huge difference to people’s lives as well as gaining plenty of valuable experience.”
